TN firecracker unit accident kills one, injures two

Firecracker unit accident killed one person and left two others seriously burned at Amathur, in the Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu, on Saturday night.

The incident happened at 8.30 p.m.

Arumugham (52) of Sankaramangalam village was the one dead and his body was taken for post-mortem at Virudhanagar Medical college hospital.TN firecracker unit accident kills one, injures two

Initially, Gobendran (33) who suffered 70 per cent burn injuries was taken to Government Hospital, Sivakasi, but was referred to Government Rajaji Medical College, Madurai.

Meanwhile, the next one, K. Deivendran (32) is hospitalized with burn injuries in the government hospital in Sivakasi.

An investigation has begun by the Amathur police. Virudhanagar district SP and Additional District magistrates have rushed to the scene.

The fire has been brought under control by a large number of police and fire and rescue teams from Virudhanagar and Sivakasi.
