Chennai: After the arrest of a teacher who is accused of flashing indecently during online classes, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that the POCSO Act will be charged on teachers who indulge in inappropriate activities during online classes.

In addition, the state education department will also frame guidelines to regulate online classes in schools to prevent the sexual harassment of students.

This comes after students of a highly reputed CBSE school of Chennai complained against the Commerce teacher of the school for misbehaving with them during online classes by wearing only a bath towel during the classes.

As the news became viral on social media, the teacher was immediately arrested and remanded in Judicial custody under the POCSO Act.

The chief minister said that the school education department will prepare the guidelines within a week and a committee will be constituted of the commissioner of the school education department, police officials of the cybercrime wing and a crime against children, academicians and IT experts.

Also, A helpline will be set up for students to lodge their complain to the state cyber wing,who will then investigate the complaints received.

Stalin also asked schools should record the online classes and the recordings reviewed periodically by the committee of parent-teacher associations.
