New Delhi: One of the arrested in the murder of two Muslim men from Rajasthan told police that the victims were still alive when they had been taken to a police station in Haryana, NDTV reported.

The Haryana Police is yet to respond to the revelation by one of those allegedly involved in the murder.

The gruesome murder of 25-year-old Nasir and 35-year-old Junaid alias Juna came out after their charred bodies were found inside a burnt Bolero SUV in Haryana’s Bhiwani.

The two men from Rajasthan were believed to be kidnapped and attacked by cow vigilantes over smuggling cows for slaughter on Wednesday night in Haryana's Nuh.

Rinku Saini, a taxi driver and member of the cow vigilante group, reportedly told investigators that they had taken two victims to the nearest police station in Haryana's Firozpur Jhirka.

They wanted Haryana police to arrest the two men on charges of cow smuggling but police asked them to leave the station having seen the half-dead men.

After Janaid and Nasir died from the injuries, the cow vigilante group contacted their associates to decide how to dispose of the bodies, the report said.

They decided to take the bodies in their Bolero SUV to Bhiwani, 200 km away, and set alight the vehicle doused in petrol in the early morning of Thursday.

As it was far away from the crime scene the group believed the bodies and vehicle would be untraceable, Rinku Saini, the taxi driver, reportedly confessed.

However, victims were identified shortly after the charred bodies and vehicle were found.

Monu Manesar, whom the victims’ family named as one of the main suspects, was not part of kidnapping the two men, police said.

However he reportedly contacted the cow vigilante group involved in the crime and helped them.

The three others that the victims’ family named included Anil, Srikant, and Lokesh Singhla.
