New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh police have registered an FIR against Congress Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, Caravan Editor in Chief Vinod K. Jose, Mrinal Pandey of National Herald, Jaffar Aaga of Qaumi Awaaz, Pareshnath, Anandanath, and Vinod K. Jose of Caravan in connection with the violent incidents during the Tractor Parade held on January 26.

The FIR alleged that the accused instigated violence before the parade started.

Journalist Piyush Rai tweeted the copy of the FIR.

The tractor parade on Tuesday that was to highlight the demands of the farmer unions to repeal three new farm laws turned into chaos on the streets of the city as a section of the protesters broke through barriers, fought with police, overturned vehicles and hoisted the traingular 'Nishan Sahib' the flag with the Sikh emblem on the ramparts of the iconic Red Fort. However, the propaganda in social media that the national flag hoisted on the Red Fort was taken down and that the flag hoisted was the Khalistan flag were proved to be erroneous as videos and still shots of the scene showed soon thereafter.

Violence broke out during the parade leaving over 100 policemen injured, officials said on Wednesday.

The farmer unions alleged that factions loyal to the BJP and those who want to end the protest were behind the sudden storming into the Red Fort premises and the resultant violence.
