Tripura: Pradyot Deb Barman, who is the chairman of TIPRA (The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance) reacted against the alleged mob lynching of three Muslim men in Tripura's Khowai district on Sunday.

"Anyone who takes law in the hands should be punished! We live in a lawful society and the public murder of the 3 people irrespective of the alleged crime is unacceptable. If they were guilty, it was the responsibility of the police to arrest them not the mob to lynch them," Pradyot Deb Barman tweeted.

The incident took place in the Maharanipur area under the Khowai district in Tripura, where three persons were allegedly beaten down by an unruly mob on Sunday on the suspicion of them being cattle lifters.

The beaten-up trio was later brought to the GB Pant Hospital in Agartala, where they were declared dead.

The deceased were Zayed Hussein (28), Billal Miah (30) and Saiful Islam (18), all residents of Sonamura in Sepahijala district, as per police reports.
