TRP Scam Case: Republic TV Assistant VP arrested

TRP Scam Case: Republic TV Assistant VP arrested

Mumbai Police have taken Republic TV distribution head Ghanshyam Singh into custody as part of the TRP scam investigation into TRP manipulation by channels. Last week the police had also arrested Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami from his home in Mumbai in another case.

Singh had already been questioned by the police several weeks earlier and was reportedly cooperating with the investigation. Several other channels such as Fakht Marathi, Box News and Maha Movies are also under investigation, with two of the 12 arrested so far turning approvers for the police.

Ashish Chaudhary of Crystal Broadcast had allegedly confessed to paying another accused, Abhishek Kolwade, to rig TRPs for Republic Bharat and Wow Music from 2017 to July this year.

Ghanshyam Singh is the 12th person to be arrested in the investigation, which has been dubbed as a "relentless attack" by Republic TV. Hansa Research Group which filed the original complaint, has also claimed in court rhat it being unduly pressured by the Mumbai Police to give statements against Republic TV.
