Lucknow: In the recent incident of a paper leak in the Uttar Pradesh police constable recruitment exam, the Special Task Force (STF) arrested two accused, PTI reported, citing officials' information on Saturday.

STF said in a statement that the caught were alleged members of a gang involved in the question paper leak of the Uttar Pradesh Recruitment and Promotion Board examination on February 17 and 18

STF arrested the duo, Ajay Singh Chauhan and Sonu Singh Yadav, both residents of Prayagraj district, on Friday. STF said that they were part of a gang that arranged solvers and leaked question papers to candidates preparing for competitive exams. It seized several documents related to the 2024 constable recruitment examination, two mobile phones, and some cash, police said.

The STF has lodged an FIR against the duo under the Indian Penal Code sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (cheating by inducement), 467 (forgery of valuable documents), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) and 386 (extortion by putting any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt) at the Vibhuti Khand police station of Lucknow.

More than 48 lakh candidates appeared in the examination conducted across the state on February 17 and 18. More than 240 people were arrested and detained by the police across Uttar Pradesh for allegedly adopting or planning to use unfair means in the recruitment exam. Following the leak, the UP administration ordered a retest of the exam.
