Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad wanted the Muslim community to voluntarily shift their mosques that are found nearby Hindu temples.

The Minister with the portfolio of the fisheries department is belonging to NISHAD Party, which allied with the BJP in the 2022 Assembly elections.

Talking to the press, he said "I want mosques to be moved voluntarily wherever there is a temple nearby, much as what happened with the Ram Temple, where the temple is being erected without a hitch and the mosque is being built at a different location. We don't need to relocate since other Indian religions are free to build houses of worship anywhere they like."

Nishad praised the government's decision to take the stock of the state's madrasas and said that "terrorists and criminals were found to have ties with madrasas." The minister also expressed gratitude to Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "keeping the state free of rioting."

The UP government said earlier this month that it will be surveying the unrecognised madrasas in the state to learn more about their faculty, curriculum, and basic amenities, among other things.
