UP Police gun down man who fired first at Umesh Pal

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday gunned down a man who was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.

The 24-year-old Vijay Chaudhary alias Usman was allegedly involved in the killing of advocate Umesh Pal days ago, The Indian Express reported.

Umesh Pal was a witness in the 2005 murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal, and his two gunners last month in Prayagraj.

The police had earlier gunned down Arbaaz, who allegedly had driven the SUV of the assailants involved in the murder Umesh Pal, in an encounter with the police in Prayagraj last week.

Alongside gunning down Arbaaz, police arrested another involved in the case, identified as Sadakat Khan.

Prayagraj Additional Commissioner of Police Akash Kulhary said Chaudhary had shot first bullet at Umesh Pal and there were criminal cases against Chaudhary, a native of Prayagraj.

Acting on a tip off police reportedly spotted him in the Kaundhiyara area and chased him after he opened fire at the police inuring a constable, while trying to escape.

When the police returned fire, the assailant reportedly got injured and was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The police claimed to have recovered a countrymade pistol from Chaudhary’s possession.

Umesh Pal and his police security guards were shot on February 24 outside his home in the Dhoomanganj area.
