Vikram becomes the highest Tamil grosser of the year, Crosses Rs 250 crore worldwide

Kamal Hassan-starrer Vikram is delighting both critics and the audience alike. The film has already grossed over Rs 250 crore worldwide and become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year.

The veteran actor has come back to the silver screen after four years.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala said the first week's box office collection of Vikram is only behind that of 2.0. However, 2.0 had its Hindi and Telugu versions earning it whereas Vikram only has a Tamil version in play.

Continuing the success of South Indian movies on north Indian screens, higher footfalls have been reported for Vikram as well. The film is seeing a great run in international markets as well and has already generated Rs 80 crore. It has already sold its TV and OTT rights for Rs 200 crore.

Director Lokesh Kangaraj took to Twitter to thank the viewers for the acceptance of the film. He wrote he has never been this emotional and does not know how to repay the love of his audience. Lead actor Kamal Hassan responded to the tweet saying the only way to do any debt management with a loving audience is to never be complacent and do honest back-breaking work.

Produced by Kamal Hassan's Raaj Kamal International Films, Vikram stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil. While Kamal Hassan plays an agent working for RAW, Vijay Sethupathi brings a worthy antagonist to life. Fahadh Faasil appears in a major role and fans were thrilled to see Suriya make a cameo appearance.

Film critique Subhash K Jha wrote that Vikram is a fearless piece of cinema and bloodshed is in every frame. He added that Fahadh Faasil dominates the show without a moment of flashy acting.

Narain, Antony Verghese, Chemben Vinod, Gayathrie Shankar, Shanvi Srivastava, Shivani Narayanan, Arjun Das, and Kalidas Jayaram are also seen in supporting roles.
