Nagaland Killings: Amit Shah must resign, Trinamool demands
cancel

As a response to the killing of 14 civilians in Nagaland, the Trinamool Congress demanded Amit Shah's immediate resignation. Sushmita Dev, a Trinamool Rajya Sabha member, asked Shah to resign immediately because innocent and unarmed people were killed without reason.

"I agree that the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 was enforced during Congress rule. But considering the present situation, the Home Minister should talk to the Chief Ministers of the northeastern states as the ruling parties of these states are either BJP or their allies," the Congress turned Trinamool leader told IANS over the phone from Kolkata.

"What happens in the country when the central armed forces are killing innocent people indiscriminately without any issue. In her tweet, Dev mentioned, "The BJP led alliance under Amit Shah has been disastrous for the Northeast. It is so unfortunate to see the peace being torn up for raw power by the BJP."

Trinamool leaders planned to meet families of victims in the Mon district on Monday. Still, the visit was canceled at the last minute after the district authority imposed prohibition orders under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting gatherings in the district.
