Chandigarh: Deputy Speaker of the Himachal Assembly was accused of slapping a student during a school visit.
Meanwhile the boy's father said Hans Ra touched his son with "love and affection".
The lawmaker for the Churah assembly constituency of Chamba district, visited a Senior School in Raila on Thursday when the incident took place.
A viral video showed him addressing a class and asking a student if he was feeling sick and then he turned to another student asking why he was laughing.
He reportedly walked up to the student and slapped him, which was clearly audible in the clip, according to the report in India Today
Rhe boy's father Riaz Mohammad said in a video that he was thankful to Hans Raj as he had 'touched' his son with 'love and affection'.
It was reported that Mohammed was seemingly guided by somebody off-camera on what to say.
Congress MLA Vikramaditya Singh demanded action against Deputy Speaker Hans Raj.
Vikramaditya accused the Deputy speaker of bad behaviour and asked him to go to mental hospital for a check-up.
