West Bengal couple sells off infant to buy iPhone to create content
text_fieldsKolkata: A couple from West Bengal’s Barrackpore is reported to have sold off their eight-month-old infant boy only to buy an expensive iPhone to shoot their Instagram reels. Identified as Jaydev Ghosh and Sathi, the couple wanted to use the iPhone to make reels of their proposed travel across the state.
Authorities revealed that the couple already had a seven-year-old daughter, and it was the suspicions of local residents that eventually led to the unravelling of their heinous act. Despite their child going missing on Saturday, Jaydev and Sathi did not report the incident to the police.
Following the concerned residents' tip-off, the police confronted the couple, and during the investigation, the mother confessed to the crime. Her statement disclosed that they planned to use the money from selling their child to travel across the state, creating content for their social media accounts.
Police rescued the infant from Priyanka Ghosh, a resident of Khardah in the same district, who had reportedly bought the child from the couple.
As the search for the infant's father continues, it has come to light that he also attempted to sell their seven-year-old daughter, although the sinister plan did not come to fruition.
The mother and the woman who bought the baby have been arrested, and the authorities are determined to apprehend the fleeing father to ensure justice is served for this reprehensible act.
