“What was there to talk about Kerala?” CM Pinarayi slams Amit Shah

Thiruvananthapuram: Responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s problematic remarks on Kerala, the state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan fired back, slamming Shah on Sunday.

In Mangalore, Amit Shah, while delivering his speech on Saturday, warned the people there that if BJP does not return to power in Karnataka, the state might become Kerala-like.

Speaking at a function in Kottayam on Sunday, Vijayan lashed out at Shah that Kerala was a place where there was no demarcation among anyone and people were living in close amity in the state. He reminded how Shah said he didn’t want to speak further about Kerala. Vijayan asked the Home Minister what was there to speak about.

“What was there to talk about Kerala?” Kerala Kaumudi News quoted him.

He then said that the Centre is a pawn of corporates. A government must ensure the well-being of the commoners too.

He said that unemployment and poverty were at their zenith in the country and added that the administration must be for the poor and not for the well-to-do people.

Citing the unemployment and poverty in the country, Vijayan said, “The people are starving, with unemployment also booming on the other side of the spectrum. BJP wants to shield such news from public glare, so they bring In the religious card creating ruckus among different societies”, Kaumudi quoted him.

He stated that those who could not properly administer the country were trying to create a rift between people on the basis of communities. Kerala will not fall for that, he said.

Kerala people will continue living in harmony and amity and will not allow anyone to change that status in the state.
