New Delhi: One of India's top journalists calls upon the people of the country to support journalists asking questions to those in power in the nation.

Ravish Kumar, Senior Executive Editor at NDTV India who resigned yesterday, added that there is a "serious threat to democracy" in India, according to Indian Express.

In his YouTube video Kumar, who won the coveted Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2019, said the people of the country showed "immense love" to him at a time when "the judiciary of the country faltered."

He said he would not have been able to do anything without his audience, and urged people to support his YouTube channel and Facebook page.

An internal mail from NDTV on Wednesday confirmed Ravish's resignation, adding that "few journalists impacted people as much as Ravish did" and called him "an integral part of NDTV for decades".

Ravish Kumar had been a towering personality at NDTV after he joined the network in 1996 piloting several news shows.

He is known for his shows including Hum Log, Ravish ki Report, Des Ki Baat, and Prime Time.

Initiating the process of acquiring an additional 26 per cent stake in the TV channel on November 22, Adani Group has now reportedly become its single largest shareholder.
