Mumbai: A horrific footage emerged today showed a woman drowning in the sea in Mumbai’s Bandra last month as her children watched in shock.

The 27-year-old Jyoti Sonar was having her photograph taken along with her husband Mukesh on June 9 when she slipped into the sea.

She was swept away in the currents at Bandstand near Bandra, officials reportedly said.

Sonar and Mukesh were sitting on a rock as their children stood away watching them click photos when the accident occurred.

As the waves carried her away children were heard helplessly screaming for help, showed the footage going viral on social media.

People on the beach alerted the police, but Sonar was already drowned and her body was found on June 10 by the Mumbai Coast Guard after a 20-hour rescue operation.

A man pulled Mukesh back from the edge but Jyothi was swept away by the current, police reportedly said.

‘I lost my balance and we both slipped. A man held me while I grabbed my wife, but she could not be saved,’, Mukesh reportedly told the police.
