New Delhi : Three days after defeating Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi party in the state election, Yogi Adityanath will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today in Delhi.

Cabinet discussion for the new government in Uttar Pradesh is on the agenda, say sources. The swearing-in ceremony date will also be discussed, they noted.

Keshav Prasad Maurya, BJP's deputy chief minister in Uttar Pradesh, suffered one of the biggest upsets of the show, losing by about 7,000 votes to Pallavi Patel of the Apna Dal (Kamerawadi).

In addition to Keshav Maurya, 10 other ministers lost their seats.

Yogi Adityanath's second deputy Dinesh Sharma didn't participate in the election.

A clarification is needed from the party for whether Mr Maurya will remain as Deputy Chief Minister or whether a replacement will be named. Sources say Mr Maurya may still go through the legislative council.

Yogi Adityanath was a member of the legislative council until he contested his first assembly election this time and won from the Gorakhpur Urban constituency.
