Jaipur: BJP general secretary and Rajasthan in-charge Arun Singh on Wednesday announced that Yogi Adityanath will remain BJP's chief ministerial face in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.

Arun Singh, who is also in charge of the BJP's Rajasthan and Karnataka units, said that the face of the chief minister in Rajasthan will be decided by the BJP Parliamentary Board.

While speaking to the media during his visit to Jaipur, Singh raised the question as to why Adityanath should be removed from CM's position when he is already doing a good job.

The remarks come as murmurs grow against Adityanath in the party over his government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, a senior party leader and UP minister Swami Prasad Maurya had said that Uttar Pradesh's next chief minister will be finalised by the BJP's central leadership after the state Assembly elections next year.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya had also made a similar statement recently and said the party's national leadership will decide under whom the upcoming elections will be fought.

Meanwhile, speaking on Rajasthan CM face amid the ongoing tussle between state organisation and former CM Vasundhara Raje group, Singh said, "The parliamentary board will decide the CM face for the assembly polls to be held in 2023."

He also warned those commenting on state organisation's working (Raje followers).

Singh added that those issuing their statements should first evaluate whether their comment will benefit or bring in loss to the party.

He also warned that disciplinary action will be taken against the leaders if their statements make the party suffer in any way.

"I have asked the state leadership that enough is enough."

"Make a list of all those leaders who are issuing unnecessary statements. We will make those leaders understand and if they don't understand, action will be taken against them," he added.
