New Delhi: A YouTube couple, Anurag Goswami and Karolina Goswami, who run the 'India in Details’ channel, have alleged that the famous YouTuber Dhruv Rathee contracted goons to physically assault them in response to their 'fact-checking' videos critical of Dhruv Rathee’s content.
The couple claims to have faced two separate assaults, one in Berlin and another in Paris, allegedly perpetrated by what they describe as "radicalized supporters" of Rathee.
In a video released on their channel, the couple detailed the incidents, displaying images of their vandalized car and narrating the confrontations with alleged supporters of Dhruv Rathee. Anurag Goswami asserted that they have filed complaints with local police in both European cities where the attacks occurred.
Karolina Goswami, originally from Poland, said that the decision to make the attacks public was reached after careful consideration. She had previously accused Dhruv Rathee's followers of online harassment and abuse after challenging his video on the 'World Happiness Index 2021,' where Rathee claimed that people in Pakistan were happier than those in India.
The Goswamis, known for their critical videos on Dhruv Rathee, have a substantial following of over 10 lakh subscribers on their channel, predominantly catering to an Indian audience. The couple has frequently accused Rathee of spreading misinformation, labelling him a 'fake intellectual' in previous videos.
The ongoing feud escalated when Karolina fact-checked Rathee's video on the World Happiness Index, where Rathee claimed that Pakistan was a happier country than India, questioning the validity of his adopted formulas and methods.
