Brisbane: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told French President Francois Hollande that success against global terror could be attained if countries adopt a common strategy.

In their first meeting ahead of the G20, Modi and Hollande also spoke of the need to enhance economic cooperation.

"Success against global terror is within reach if States adopt common strategy", according to tweets by the ministry of external affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin cited Modi as telling Hollande.

France was the first country to join the US-led coalition in air strikes on Islamic State insurgents in Iraq.

Hollande conveyed that France is keen to enhance economic cooperation and invited Modi to Paris next year.

"France express keenness to further strengthen economic ties," a tweet said.
