Hezbollah lashes out at Saudi-led aggression in Yemen

Beirut: Head of Lebanon's Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah chastised weeks of Saudi-led air campaign against Yemen.

Addressing hundreds of supporters at a rally on Friday , Nasrallah said the airstrikes' real objective is to restore the Saudi-US hegemony over Yemen, instead of Riyadh's claim of defending Yemen's Arab identity.

Saudi Arabia has championed an Arab military operation against Yemen's Iran-backed Shiite Houthi rebels since late last month in a bid to restore the rule by the absent Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

"It's about time Muslims and Arabs told Saudi Arabia enough is enough," he said, adding that the real threat to the two holy sites in Saudi Arabia comes from the Islamic State (IS) militant group.

The Hezbollah leader also noted that "most voices in the world have demanded an end to the war and called for a political solution."

"Those leading this war must show modesty and seek an exit," he said, adding that he wants Lebanon to stay isolated from Yemen's crisis.
