Ankara: Turkey has suspended operations at its embassy in Yemen, with the return of its ambassador and embassy staff to Turkey over the weekend, an official said Monday.
Ankara shut down its embassy in Yemen's capital Sanaa late Sunday night after securing the safe return of its citizens, Xinhua reported.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu issued a travel warning for Turkish citizens Saturday, urging them to leave Yemen immediately.
A political impasse in Yemen also led the US, Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to withdraw their diplomatic staff from Sanaa, citing unstable security circumstances.
On Feb 6, the Shia Houthi group announced the dissolution of parliament and the formation of a presidential council, a move which was rejected by many of Yemen's political parties.
