Niamey (Niger): At least four people were killed and dozens injured in protests over Charlie Hebdo's cartoon depicting the Prophet Mohammed in Niger's second largest city of Zinder, Xinhua reported quoting a senior government official Friday.

Interior Minister Massaoudou Hassoumi said a policeman and three civilians were killed during the demonstrations in the West African nation.

On Jan 7, three gunmen broke into the premises of Paris-based satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo and killed 12 people, including journalists and policemen.

The attackers said the act was in retaliation to mocking caricatures of Prophet Muhammad published by the weekly.
