New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday called on Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom here before formal talks.
"The week begins with Maldives. EAM @SushmaSwaraj calls on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom before formal talks," foreign ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said in a tweet.
Yameen, who is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day, is on a two-day trip to India. He was among the SAARC leaders who had attended Modi's swearing-in in May, 2014.
Earlier, Swaraj had visited Maldives in November 2014 and again in October 2015 for the India-Maldives Joint Commission, held after 15 years.
Yameen would also call on President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday.
