Wellington: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted 74km off Castlepoint, New Zealand, on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said.
The epicentre, with a depth of 10km, was initially determined to be at 40.5957 degrees south latitude and 177.0091 degrees east longitude, Xinhua reported.
No casualties have been been reported so far.
