Thiruvananthapuram: Pointing out that the BJP is not working well with the minorities, including the Muslims, BJP Minority Morcha national office bearer and BJP's former state secretary AK Naseer joined the CPI(M).

Nazeer was a BJP member for 30 years. He said that the BJP is not working well with the minorities, including Muslims, and that is why he is leaving the party. He added that he had been thinking about this for three years. Naseer was a member of the investigation commission in the medical bribery scandal in which MT Ramesh was accused. It was alleged that crores of bribes were taken in the name of obtaining approval from the Medical Council of India for Varkala SR, Cherpulashery and Kerala Medical Colleges. The allegation came out through the report of an inquiry conducted by a BJP-appointed commission in Kerala under the leadership of Naseer when Kummanam Rajasekharan was the president. Naseer was suspended from the party for strongly criticizing the state leadership in the inquiry report.

CPI(M)State Secretary MV Govindan welcomed Naseer to the party on his arrival at the AKG Center. Ministers PA Muhammad Riaz, P Rajeev and CPM leader M Swaraj were present.
