Thiruvananthapuram: An 11-year-old girl waiting in queue for darshan at Sabarimala died of heart ailment on Saturday.

The devotee hailing from Tamil Nadu, had been getting treatment for a heart ailment since the age of three, collapsed and was declared dead at a hospital.

Sabarimala is reporting overwhelming flow of devotees this time with pilgrims waiting for up to 18 hours before they get a glimpse of the idol, India Today reported.

Many frustrated devotees are known to be jumping queues causing chaos on the holy steps towards the temple.

Kerala Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan and Travancore Devaswom Board President PS Prasanth held a meeting to find ways to ease the rush.

Authorities have decided to reduce virtual queue booking limit by 10,000 and cut down the daily maximum to 80,000 from 90,000.

Kerala Health Minister Veena George announced a special rescue ambulance service, Kanivu 108, at Sannidhanam to meet medical emergencies.
