Gold worth Rs 52.90 lakh seized from Keralite at Mangalore airport

Mangalore: Two kg of gold worth Rs 52.90 lakh was seized by Customs Officials at Mangalore International Airport and three persons were arrested in this connection.

The gold was found concealed separately in the form of two gold bars weighing one kg each in two mobile phone pouches of a passenger and kept in a Dubai Duty Free carry bag, an official release said.

The passenger, hailing from Kozhikode in Kerala who arrived from Dubai on Saturday, was arrested, along with two other persons, working at the airport duty free shops here for helping him in an attempt to smuggle gold, the release said.
