Free travel for school students on KSRTC buses

Thiruvananthapuram: The State government has announced free travel for all students till the higher secondary level on Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses.

While announcing this in the Assembly on Thursday, Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan the facility would be offered to 1,30,000 students availing concession for travel in KSRTC buses now.

Answering a submission from V.T. Balaram, the Minister said the government was taking the decision because the KSRTC was now saving Rs.16.50 lakh daily on fuel expenses due to the recent fall in diesel price.
