New Delhi: Is the name of Dronacharya, the royal guru of Pandavas and Kauravas in epic Mahabharata appropriate for naming an award for outstanding sports coaches?
This was asked by CPI-M member from Kerala MB Rajesh in Lok Sabha during Question Hour Tuesday.
Rajesh said as the story of Dronacharya says that he had sought the thumb of 'Eklavya', who learnt the art of war by witnessing the training session of Pandavas and Kauravas, as 'guru dakshina' to make him incapable of fighting with bow and arrow.
"Is Dronacharya a role model? Is it proper to name such an award after him," he asked.
However, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan intervened and said this has nothing to do with the main question and asked Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to ignore it.
