Kochi: About 60 selected works of late child prodigy Edmund Thomas Clint, who died at the age of seven leaving behind 25,000 odd works of art, will be exhibited at the children's Biennale aiming to rekindle the spirit of drawing and painting in the younger generation.

Clint's works will be exhibited at the specially organised children's segment that will open on Dec 16. The 108-day Kochi Muziris Biennale (KMB) will be featuring 94 artists from India and 30 other countries.

His father Joseph M D and mother Chinnamma Joseph will inaugurate the Children's Biennale with an exhibition of 60 works of Clint, who died in 1983.

The Children's exhibition was a feature of the 2012 KMB as well, and its upcoming second edition will be held at Mattancherry's Cosmopolitan Cult-a new gallery inspired by the biennale here.

"The Children's Biennale is a very important space to involve our children in the world of contemporary art," said KMB Director of Programmes Riyas Komu, adding, "Clint's works are a significant tool to understand that space".

The works of Clint for the exhibition have been selected

by a biennale team led by Komu from over 6,000 shortlisted drawings. Clint's parents treasure a near-total collection of the prodigy's works.

Born on May 19, 1976, Clint started drawing as early as a

six-month-old, creating lines and circles while crawling. He won many inter-school contests before passing away on April 15, 1983.

While he drew Goliath, he also sketched Arjuna and Bhima.
