BJP support: Chennithala challenges LDF to snap ties with NCP

New Delhi: Congress leader and Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Wednesday asked the LDF Opposition in the state to snap its ties with the NCP over its decision to support the BJP in Maharashtra.

Talking to the media here, Chennithala said that the Left should show if they have the mettle to ouster the NCP from the Front.

“The LDF should show where it stands. They have the responsibility to show their view on the matter,” the minister said.

The NCP's offer of outside support to the BJP to form government in Maharashtra had caused divisions in the party's Kerala unit, which is a partner in the CPI-M-led LDF.

While state NCP president Uzhavoor Vijayan and senior leader and MLA A K Saseendran came out openly against the central leadership, another party legislator Thomas Chandy defended the offer of support to the saffron party in Maharashtra.
