Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau officials Tuesday recorded the statement of Finance Minister K.M Mani in connection with the bribery allegation against him.
Mani is reported to have denied the bar bribe charges against him before the probe team.
The State government on November 2 had announced a vigilance probe into the allegation by bar owners that K M Mani had demanded a hefty sum for favourable decisions.
Biju Ramesh, working President of Kerala Bar Hotels Association, had alleged that Mani had taken Rs one crore and demanded Rs five crore on the promise of reopening 418 closed bars.
Mani, a veteran politician and supremo of Kerala Congress (M), a long-time partner of the Congress-led coalition, had rubbished the charge as "baseless."
On Saturday, the Congress-led UDF had pledged its total support to Mani over the controversy and resolved to fight the allegation against him unitedly.
