Thiruvananthapuram: In an apparent change in the political equation of the Congress unit in Kerala, a meeting of the Congress-I group has decided to revamp the erstwhile Karunakaran group.
According to sources, the meeting held on Friday night has decided to revamp the Congress-I group and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has unanimously been chosen as the leader of the group.
K. Muraleedharan, senior Congress leader and son of K. Karunakaran, has reportedly said during the meeting that he extended full support to Ramesh Chennithala as the leader of the group.
UDF convenor P.P Thankachan presided over the function. Senior Congress leaders like Padmaja Venugopal, M I Shanavas, K.C Venugopal and K. Sudhakaran attended the meeting.
The fourth group of the Congress,who support Vayalar Ravi, is also likely to merge with the Congress-I group.
