CPI-M activist killed in bomb attack in Kannur

Kannur: A CPI(M) activist was killed in a bomb attack at Panoor in Kannur in the wee hours of Thursday.

Vinod (36) was on his way to home after the Vishu celebrations when the incident happened at around 1.30 a.m.

The body has been kept in the mortuary of the Thalassery General Hospital.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) district secretary P Jayarajan criticised police for "inadequate" security arrangements at politically sensitive areas during festival time.

"This fresh murder has taken place with the knowledge of the BJP/RSS leadership in Kannur," he said.

The CPI(M) has called for a hartal at Panoor and nearby panchayats till 6.00 in the evening.
