Chavakkad: A picture of Gopa Prathapan, former president of Guruvayur Block Committee, has surfaced in which he is seen with the main accused in the Haneefa murder case.

The photo aired by a news channel showed the Congress leader standing along with Shameer, who was Saturday arrested in connection with the incident.

The relatives of A.C Haneefa had earlier alleged that Gopa Prathapan had a role in the murder.

The KPCC had suspended pending inquiry Guruvayur Block Committee president Gopa Prathapan from the party preliminary membership in connection with murder case.

On Sunday, Congress state president V M Sudheeran said a party sub-committee would look into the alleged group rivalry behind the murder.

A C Haneefa, 40, a local Congress leader at Thirivathra, near Chavakkad in Thrissur, was hacked to death on Friday night.

A six-member criminal gang stormed into his house without any provocation and brutally attacked him in the presence of his mother, wife and three children. Haneefa belongs to A group in Congress.
