Death of Congress worker political murder in FIR

Thrissur: The death of local Congress party leader A C Haneefa at Chavakkad here has been mentioned as political murder in the First Information Report (FIR).
The FIR mentions group rivalry as the reason behind the murder.
It also quotes an eye-witness who said Shameer, a local Congress leader and the leader of a criminal gang, stabbed Haneefa to death.
While three other persons held Haneefa, Shameer stabbed him with a knife. The gang fled in a Maruti Swift car after the incident.
Police had last week arrested Shameer, who belongs to the ‘I’ group in the party. He had been allegedly involved in criminal cases in the past.
A six-member criminal gang stormed into Haneefa’s house without any provocation and brutally attacked him in the presence of his mother, wife and three children. Haneefa belongs to A group in Congress.
