Gautam Adani calls on Achuthanandan

Thiruvananthapuram: Gautam Adani, who arrived here to sign the Vizhinjam port project, met Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan at the Cantonment House on Monday morning.

Controversial lobbyist T. G Nandakumar and Karan Adani, Executive Director, APSEZ, were also present during the meeting.

Achuthanandan is understood to have told Adani that even though he would not be present when the agreement is inked later in the evening, he was not against the port project.

The meeting lasted for 20 minutes.

The meeting assumes significance as the CPI(M) stalwart had opposed the handing over the proposed Vizhinjam port in Kerala to Adani Ports.

Achuthanandan had said that it was most unfortunate that Kerala's dream project Vizhinjam port had been handed over to a private player, the Adani Group, headed by Gautam Adani who is known to be the close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
