Kochi: The High Court has put a stay on the comprehensive general education reform package approved by the UDF government to resolve issues and problems of teachers in government and government aided-schools in the state.
The Court observed that some of the aspects of the package are not in accordance with the education policy released by the Central government.
The Court also said certain parts of the package were unclear and confusing.
Justice A J Jayashankaran Nambiar stayed the package on Wednesday while considering a plea filed by the manager of SKV LP School, Miyannur in Kollam, questing some of the aspects of the package.
Under the package, the government had offered to settle the problems of 10,000 teachers who had not been receiving salaries for the past few years, either due to fall in number of students in schools or unrecognized appointments.
Teacher student ratio was made 1:30 for classes 1 to 4 and 1:35 for classes 5 to 10. Headmasters of aided schools were made self drawing officers.
The package was to be implemented by merging the same with Central government schemes.
