Thiruvananthapuram: A girl student of College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (CET) here, who suffered injuries after a jeep hit her amid Onam celebrations on the campus, is remaining critical.

Thansi Basheer, a third-year Civil Engineering student at CET and a native of Malappuram, suffered serious head injuries in the incident and is admitted in a private hospital here.

As per reports, she has undergone three surgeries.

The relatives of the victim alleged that the occupants of the jeep, students of the same college, were drunk.

Although the incident occurred around 3.30 pm, the Sreekaryam police said they were informed about it by the principal only around 8 pm.

The police on Thursday morning found the jeep abandoned behind the college building. It is owned by a person from Kadavanthra, Ernakulam.

The relatives of the victim alleged inactiveness from the part of the college authorities. They said they were informed by the incident at around 5 pm Wednesday by the friends of the student, not by the college authorities.
