Planned attempt to spread violence in the State: Ramesh Chennithala

Thiruvananthapuram: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday said there was a planned attempt from the part of certain political outfits to spread violence in the State, in an indirect jibe at the CPI-M and BJP.

Asking the political parties to shed violence, Chennithala said action would be taken against the culprits no matter which party they belong to. “They will have to face the law of the land,” he added.

The Home Minister’s remarks came on the day the State witnessed violent incidents at some parts following two political murders on Friday.

Clashes erupted at some parts of the State between the workers of the CPI-M and BJP on Saturday following the death of their party workers in Kasargod and Thrissur respectively. The CPI-M has called for a hartal in Kasargod to protest against the killing while the BJP is observing hartal in Kodakara and Puthukad panchayats in Thrissur district to mark their protest.
