Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress activists staged a protest against HRD minister Smriti Irani, who reached here to attend a function, on Saturday morning.

The protesters shouted "Go back, Go back" at the Thiruvananthapuram airport as they waved the black flags to denounce Irani's comments against Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The activists, who protested with black flags, were later arrested by the police.

On Friday, Smriti Irani had said the Congress president could not even deliver a speech without reading from a paper.

"It's easy for Soniaji to give a byte, but it is not easy for her to give a speech without reading it out from a paper," Irani said
