Chennai: Indian Union Muslim League leaders from Kerala, including Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, Tuesday distributed relief material to flood-affected people.

Kunhalikutty, IUML Kerala chief Sayed Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal, National General Secretary and Tamil Nadu state President K M Khader Mohideen and others distributed relief aid to affected persons in different parts of Saidapet here.

They gave away rice, provision items, vessels and other essentials to about 1000 persons.

Mohideen later told reporters that IUML had so far given away Rs 1.34 crore worth relief material to flood victims in the worst affected Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Cuddalore districts.

Majority of the relief material was provided by Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre, he said.

Earlier, Kunhalikutty, who spoke to reporters at the airport, did not take any questions on the Mullaperiyar issue, which Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has taken up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
