Chandy accused of taking bribe, sexually abusing Saritha Nair

Thiruvananthapuram: The infamous solar scam has returned to haunt the UDF government in the State with Biju Radhakrishnan, the key accused in the scam, raising bribery allegations against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and sexual abuse charges against some of the UDF ministers and the Chief Minister as well.

On Wednesday, while deposing before a judicial commission probing into the scam, Biju made the startling allegation that Chandy had sexually exploited Saritha Nair, Biju’s partner and another accused in the case.

Biju deposed in front of Justice Sivarajan Commission that he had the sleazy video clippings involving Chandy and Saritha and was ready to present that before the Commission, if asked.

He also said UDF ministers Shibu Baby John and A P Anil Kumar, Hibi Eden MLA, Aryadan Shaukkath and Anil Kumar’s personal assistant Nazarullah had sexually used Saritha, besides the Chief Minister.

He claimed he had shown the video clips of all the five persons to Chandy. “I did not show him the sixth clip as that was of the Chief Minister itself.”

Biju also alleged that Chandy had accepted RS 5.5 crore as bribe from him. He said he gave the money to the Chief Minister as per direction from his former gunman Salim Raj.

RS 5.10 crore was handed over to the Chief Minister personally and the rest of the amount was given through Jikkumon Jacob and Tenny Joppan. The Chief Minister had promised to allot 70 acre land at Kinfra Park in Palakkad to start a solar project and 150 acre land in Idukki to start windmill. The discussions were held at Ernakulam guest-house, Biju said.

Team solar was planning a 400 crore-worth company. There was an understanding to induct the Chief Minister son Chandy Oommen as a partner. It was decided that the profit would be shared in a proportion of 60:40.

Biju has also said that he was in constant contact with the Chief Minister over the projects.

He has pleaded with the Commission for police protection as the revelations, he said, would turn death knell for him.
