Aluva: The Aluva police have registered a case in connection with the incident of insulting noted social activist Daya Bai in a state-owned KSRTC bus Saturday night.

Bus conductor K N Shailan, a KSRTC employee of Palakkad-Vadakkanchery depot, has been named an accused in the case. Charges of misbehaving with woman and using vulgar language have been tapped on him.

Shailan and bus driver Yusuf were suspended on Monday in connection with the incident followed by an inquiry by the vigilance wing of the KSRTC.

Daya Bai on Sunday alleged the employees of the bus used vulgar language against her and forced her to get down in an unknown area Saturday night while travelling to Aluva from Thrissur.

She told reporters that the conductor and driver used vulgar words and misbehaved with her when she enquired about the bus stop near Aluva where she was supposed to get down.

"I was on the verge of crying. People like me should not be humiliated. We all enjoy equal rights", she said.

Dayabai had taken the bus to Aluva after addressing a student police camp in Thrissur.
