Thiruvananthapuram: Reiterating his party’s stand on the airport project at Aranmula, BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan Friday said they would not allow the project to be implemented.
“The Central government has cancelled all kinds of approval for the project. We won’t allow the airport project to come up at Aranmula. I can’t understand why the state government is so keen to implement the project,” Kummanam told in an interview to a news channel.
“There are many other suitable places for airport projects in Pathanamthitta district," he said, asking: “Why do they insist to implement the project at Aranmula, which is covered by the paddy field?”
Kummanam also said both Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and CPI(M) politburo member were trying to tarnish his image after he took the charge as the BJP state chief.
“I won’t support any kind of communalism. The politicians had a role in almost all the communal violence incidences in the state,” he said.
