National Games Village handed over to National Games Secretariat

Thiruvananthapuram: The State-of-the-art pre-fabricated National Games Village was on Wednesday handed over to the National Games Secretariat for hosting the 35th edition to be held in the state from January 31 to Febuary 14.

The village is spread over 28 acres, which belongs to Kerala SIDCO, at Menamkulam to house more than 5000 sportspersons and officials who would take part in the Games.

The village was developed by ACME and Samir Sharan, CEO, ACME, said the company was proud to be associated with the National Games.

The feature of this Games Village with 365 units was the firstever use of technologically-advanced means of construction - Prefabrication Technology for the National Games, which has helped the Games Village to be completed in record time of ten months, he said.

The advantage of having a prefabricated village would also ensure minimum operation costs, he said, adding, it can also be relocated to any other site with minimal expenditure for dismantling existing structure and re-assembling them.
