Pathanamthitta: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has called for a dawn to dusk hartal in the district on Friday to protest against the police action on DYFI activists.

The 12-hour hartal was called to protest the police assault on the activists who were taking out a march in protest against the delay in printing and supplying of school textbooks.

Newspaper, milk, hospital and pilgrims have been exempted from the hartal.

Several DYFI men, including district president P R Pradeep and state vice president Roshan Roy, were injured when the police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the activists who were taking out a march to the DEO in the district on Thursday.
