Thiruvananthapuram: The proposed university being set up in Kerala for the promotion of technical education, will be named after late Indian president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Wednesday.

The Kerala Technological University (KTU) will be named after Kalam, Chandy told IANS.

The exact name and style will be decided later, according to the rules and regulations, he said.

Kalam had always been close to Kerala as he worked in the ISRO unit here for two decades.

The Kerala Technological University Bill 2015 is being moved in the assembly on Wednesday.

The university is being set up for the promotion of technical education and all the colleges and academic institutions in the state offering technical education will be brought under it.
