Two killed as bus rams into crowd in Thrissur

Thrissur: Two people were killed and one sustained injuries when a KSRTC low-floor bus rammed into a crowd at the KSRTC bus stand in Thrissur on Sunday morning.

The victims were identified as Rateesh (29) and Vinod (31), both from Palakkad district. They were waiting to board a bus for Kochi.

They were visually challenged cricketers and on their way to Kochi to participate in a meeting of the Cricket Association for Blind in Kerala.

The accident occurred at around 9 am.

Some other passengers seeing the approaching bus, which went out of control, ran helter-skelter and were saved, police said.

The station master’s office and the dressing room of the employees were completely damaged in the accident.

The bodies are kept at the Thrissur district hospital.
